Planning Your Painting Activity :
( 1 ) Identify painting area :

Identify areas to be painted including wooden and metal surfaces. Make a calculation of the area to have an understanding for the amount of paint required. Remember to classify areas as those that would require almost complete overhauling to those that require only simple recoating with paint.

( 2 ) Special attention Areas :
Do a check to identify areas that need special attention, for example areas having leakage, fungal or algae growth or excessive tear, because these areas would require extra focus.
( 3 ) Avoid wrong Season :
Plan you painting schedule to match the season, i.e. avoid excessively humid or rainy seasons, as such conditions prolong drying time and effect curing. Especially for exteriors avoid painting in extreme temperatures and humid conditions.
( 4 ) Choose the right product :
Choose the correct product specific to your requirement. Review the products available to understand the suitability of them to your requirements. Base the product choice on your standards of quality and expense involved. You can use our paint calculator to have a general estimate of the costs involved.
( 5 ) Choose the right shade :
Decide the correct base colour to start with. Divide the rooms into specific areas and choose complementing accent colours. The doors, windows and metal frames can be selected from complementary colours to the base colour. You can use the colour wheel in the Planet Colour section of the website to gain knowledge of accents and complementary colours. You may also use the Colour Visualizer service offered by J&N to virtually view your home.

Our Colour Therapy guide will also give you an understanding of the correct shade to suit your needs.

Another way of visualizing is to try some shades by trying a small trial pack to understand the suitability to your project.
( 6 ) Select the correct painter/contractor :
  • Remember to buy products from an authorized and reputed dealer.

  • Buy product packs wisely to minimize cost, i.e. for 8 ltr requirement, buy two 4 ltr packs and not eight 1 ltr packs.

  • Also confirm the availability of your selected shade. It is wise to buy a little extra to evade any shortage of the shade.

Also consult your painter/contractor to purchase standard primers and putties suitable for your paints.

  • Buy the products near you planned painting date, and if required store the products carefully because many painting products could be inflammable and hence dangerous to personal safety.

  • Purchase good quality brushes, rollers and accessories to get the bet possible results.
